About Ceriter

The company behind Stride One.

A small medtech company in Belgium and the Netherlands, building one thing: a way to measure how load moves through the foot, continuously, outside a laboratory.

Who is behind it

Three founders,
second time around.

Jan Limet — CEO and co-founder

Previously a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, and founder of GalilAI, a machine-learning company serving energy retailers. Ceriter is his second company. He writes the evidence pages on this site.

Bram Leen — CTO and co-founder

Leads the sensor hardware, firmware and the data pipeline behind the Stride One Score — from a pressure array reading the whole foot up to 1,700 times a second, through to three indices a patient can read in ten seconds.

Piet Stevens — co-founder and board member

Co-founded the company and built its early commercial base. He now sits on the board and remains the company’s largest shareholder.

Clinical advisory board

Built with the people
who treat these feet.

Six foot and ankle specialists across the United States, the Netherlands and Belgium advise Ceriter on the device, the measures it reports, and the evidence behind them. Several hold equity in the company.

Backing

Who is funding this.

Programmes and networks

Ceriter came through imec.istart, the Flemish deep-tech accelerator, and is a member of Hive, the Luxembourg health innovation and ventures network.

Investors

Ceriter is privately held, funded by angel investors and early-stage venture capital. A number of our investors are practising orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons and podiatrists — people who backed the company after using or assessing the device in their own field. It is the endorsement we take most seriously.

Regulatory status

Where the device stands.

We would rather state this plainly on a page of our own than leave people to work it out.

Stride One is a monitoring device. It records and displays gait and plantar-load parameters. It does not provide diagnostic or therapeutic recommendations, does not detect or predict any condition, and does not replace professional medical judgment.

Stride One is not CE-marked as a medical device and is not cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment or alleviation of disease.

A quality management system is being built to ISO 13485. Certification status, and the device’s registration status in the EU and the US, are stated here as they change. Written enquiries about regulatory status are welcome at info@ceriter.com and are answered directly.

What Stride One measures, and the list of things it does not measure, is set out in full on what the metrics mean.
